All Tomorrow’s Parties – The Nightmare Before Xmas 2009 – Part 4

In the fullness of time (i.e. 30 months after the event) the Sunday afternoon of the 2009 Nightmare Before Xmas is largely a blank.  I can remember thinking Gemma Hayes, as an acoustic singer-songwriter type, was a bit of a strange choice, given the rest of the weekend’s lineup. I can’t remember anything about Lilys.  A Place to Bury Strangers and Swervedriver competed with My Bloody Valentine to be the loudest bands of the weekend but both bands suffered from poor sound and a muddy mix. Both bands also played largely in darkness which didn’t help the photos.  It’s a good job that sharpness and correct exposure are vastly overrated in music photography.
